Peanut Gallery: In The Mood For Vuvu

Jeff and Paul from the Peanut Gallery are regulars here on Barry. We really like the guys, so we’re more than happy to promote their new album.*

Before the World Cup we had never heard of a vuvuzela. Then it became a bigger talking point than New Zealand doing better than the Socceroos.

The rise of the the vuvuzela has been rapid. According to Wikipedia, it is an instrument that is also known as lepatata, is typically a 65-centimetre plastic device that requires the flow of air to produce a loud monotone note, typically below middle C. A similar device, known as the corneta, is used in Brazil and other Latin American countries.

Now the Peanut Gallery have reworked some classic songs into aural delights featuring a vuvuzela solo. This instrument is going from strength to strength, we’ve heard from rock music pundits that Bruce Springsteen has urged E-Street member Clarence Clemons to drop the sax and get on board the vuvu magic.

*footnote: there really isn’t an album of vuvuzela songs.
